Serve Others

Make a difference in our church and community by serving others.

Here are some of our most pressing needs at Wilmer right now:

volunteer for 2017-2018 Wednesday nights

Our Wednesday night programs for kids and students will kick off soon for the new school year! We will need lots of volunteers to help with our preschoolers, kids, preteens, and middle school and high school students. Begin praying about how you can serve in one of these areas. If you want to volunteer to help in one of these ministries, simply complete our volunteer form.

Alabama Baptist Children's Home
Family Care Home--Housewarming Shower

Our local Alabama Baptist Children’s Home is finishing up constitution on a new Family Care home. The Family Care ministry serves struggling mothers and their children. Moms can stay with their children at the Family Care Home for up to one year as they work on a plan to achieve independence.

As the house is being finished, ABCH needs items to make the facility into a home. We will be hosting a housewarming shower here at Wilmer to help provide some of the items they need. The shower will be right after the worship service on Sunday, July 30th. Some of the items needed most are towels, linens, pots and pans, dishes and silverware. Gift cards are also welcome! The Alabama Baptist Children's Home is registered at:

JC Penney:  Registry #99159743

Kohl's:  Registry #3319146

You can drop by the "come and go" housewarming to drop off a gift and have some refreshments with us. Thank you for your support of this ministry.

Connect Team Volunteers

Each week, members of our Connect team greet visitors, provide information about our church, and help direct adults and children to classes all around our campus. We need a few more volunteers who would like to serve with this ministry. Volunteers serve one Sunday per month, from about 8:45-10:30 AM. We want Connect team members to be visible (wearing our red Connect shirts), friendly and ready to help! If you're interested in helping our Connect team, please contact Kim McGraw ( ).

Bus riders and drivers

Our bus ministry runs six routes in our community and brings in over 200 kids and students each week. We are constantly in need of volunteers for this ministry. Bus routes run on Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:00 pm (pick up) and from 7:15-7:45 pm (drop off). Here's how you can help:

  • Drive a bus--requires a CDL license
  • Ride a bus--riders help with taking attendance, with safety, and with building relationships with kids

To volunteer with this ministry, please contact William Dunnam.

Comfort Givers Ministry

This ministry prepares food when someone in our church family loses a loved one. If you would like to serve with the Comfort Givers ministry, please contact us at the church office.
