Love for the Church

I want to thank everyone for praying for me and my family these past three weeks.  I have been through some very trying times, but God has been with me every step of the way.  I have been humbled by the expressions of love from my church family, and I treasure your prayers and friendship.

I want to express my gratitude for our church staff and support staff who have carried on in my absence.  What a wonderful and gifted group of people we have here at Wilmer.  I have certainly missed being present with my church family.  I have missed teaching and preaching because that is what God has called me to do.  One scripture has motivated me throughout my illness and recovery and it is Psalm 71:17-18:

“Since my youth, O God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds.  Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come.”

I am getting stronger and I am back at work some this week. I plan to be back to church this Sunday and look forward to seeing everyone.  Thank you again my church family for praying for me and my family.  We love you all and look forward to continue serving the Lord with you.

With Love,

Bro. Terry

LifeGroups at Wilmer

This is an exciting week for us here at Wilmer Baptist Church.  This  Sunday evening, we are coming together as a church for what we call “Group Link.” We will meet in the Worship Center at 5:00PM and introduce our Life Group leaders for this year.  After meeting our Life Group leaders, we move into the gym for some food, fellowship, and signup for Life Groups.  You will be able to join the Life Group of your choice.

We believe it is God’s will for us to be part of a community of faith.  We can experience community in our Life Groups as we get to know each other better in a home setting with other believers.  This is a great opportunity to interact with others and make friendships that will last a lifetime.

I sincerely hope that members of our church will pray seriously about becoming part of a Life Group. If you are thinking about joining a Life Group but haven’t committed yet, then please come and see what Life Groups are all about.  There will be no pressure to join, just an opportunity to fellowship with the church and receive some information about the dynamics of Life Groups.

This Sunday morning evangelist Scott Dawson from Birmingham, Alabama, will be preaching during our worship service. Scott is a longtime friend of our church and an anointed servant of God.  God is using this man all over America as he unashamedly shares the truth of God’s Word. Come and join us for worship as we welcome Scott to our church.
