The Gospel of Luke: Chapter 7

main image
We must remember that Luke is writing this gospel account to his friend named Theophilus. Luke is convinced that Jesus is the promised Messiah sent by God. His account of many of the things that Jesus did is to convince his friend so that his friend will believe in Jesus.
In chapter 7, we have Luke recording many miracles that Jesus performed that included raising one from the dead. Jesus proved through these miracles that He was the Son Of God. Jesus also proved that He was the Messiah when He forgave the sins of a woman who washed His feet. Only God can forgive sins. Jesus told the woman that she could go in peace because her faith had saved her. Only through faith in Jesus can we find salvation and peace!

The Gospel of Luke: Chapter 6

main image
In chapter 6, Jesus is continuing His ministry of teaching and healing. He encountered the Pharisees and their hatred for Him as He healed on the sabbath and proclaimed Himself as Lord of the Sabbath in verse 5.
Chapter 6 list the names of His disciples and verses 20 through 49 is an example of the teachings He shared with the disciples. These teachings tell us a lot about God’s character and how He deals with sinners. The teachings of Jesus were different and often contrary to our nature as humans. Jesus taught that there were blessings for those who would forgive others and those who would give generously to others. He taught that those who heard the words of a God and obeyed them were building on a firm foundation. Let the words of God we read today guide you in your walk with the Lord.
