A Spiritual Stirring

It has already been a very exciting and successful summer for our church here at Wilmer.  Our Vacation Bible School was tremendous, with so many adults and youth giving their time to work with our children.  Our students attended Centrifuge Summer Camp at Mississippi College in Jackson, and that week left a deep spiritual impression on our young people.  This past week at Children’s Camp,  we were touched by God and had a wonderful experience, with 150 children and workers coming together and worshipping the Lord.

God is moving in the lives of our people, and we are seeing people surrender their lives to Christ and make public confessions of their faith in Christ.  We have seen people recommitting themselves to serve the Lord.  Families are joining the church and many visitors are coming to worship and praying about making our church their home.  The Lord is speaking to hearts, and we are praying for guidance that the Holy Spirit will lead us to fulfill the Great Commission of our Lord.  The Lord is certainly stirring my heart and preparing me for what He has for us this next year.  Ever since our Renewal Weekend last March, there has been a unity among us that is a blessing from the Lord.

I said last Sunday morning that I believe our church is about to experience some awesome things from God if we will just acknowledge the presence and power of the Holy Spirit.  We must stand firm to preach, teach and live the Word of God and pray for God to move among us.  When we are willing to deny ourselves and allow the Spirit of God to fill us, God will open the doors and build His church.  We need to pray for God to open doors and for the Holy Spirit to bring people to our church from the north, south, east and west.  He has shown in the past that He will when we pray and prepare for it.

These are exciting days as we pray for and anticipate a spiritual movement by the Lord in our midst.  Pray for a mighty visitation of the Spirit upon us.

God's Blessing on the Church

Three months ago we had a spiritual renewal weekend in our church, and many of our people participated and were refreshed as we experienced the presence of God among us. The deacons of our church provided great leadership and many of our young men and ladies committed themselves to a deeper walk with the Lord. Since the Renewal Weekend, our church has been different.  There is a greater sense of unity, more people volunteering to serve and a spiritual stirring among our youth.

The Lord is sending us young couples who are coming to Wilmer to become the spiritual leaders of the future, as they join with the other young couples in our church who are faithfully serving the Lord.  It is exciting to talk to these who are coming and to hear how God has led them to Wilmer. I feel that we are on the cusp of some exciting things God wants to do in the church. This is a time when we need to pray and seek God’s direction as He leads us into the future.

This past Sunday we were privileged to see how God is working as we witnessed five new converts baptized, two professions of faith in Christ and several rededications to Christ. Pray for our workers and children who will be going to camp at Baldwin Baptist Camp next week. Be faithful to love others, talk with people about Christ and serve the Lord with joy--knowing that our labor is not in vain.
